Fed up paying expensive website developers?

Do you wish you could update the content of your website yourself?
Already heard of Content Management Systems (CMS) but need help or support?

We've implemented a variety of content management websites using the Open Source software product, Joomla!

Never heard of Open Source? How it works is simple - the software is free. Unlike products such as Microsoft Office, you do not have to pay for the software nor for multiple user licences to use the software.

Never heard of Joomla! How it works is also simple - websites developed using Joomla! comprise a 'front-end' (what your users see) and a 'back-end' (what you use to add new content to the website and to maintain what is visible on the front-end). Think of your website as a newspaper or magazine - with a variety of articles, photographs, event calendars, adverts and the likes. You, as the administrator of the website, use simple interfaces provided by the back-end to create new articles (possibly with photographs included). You then assign each article to a section and a category and Joomla! does the rest - it 'publishes' the articles to your website. You define the sections and categories and where they are displayed, giving you complete control over the look and feel of the website. You don't need to write any software and you don't need to understand HTML (the language used to write web pages). As Joomla! is Open Source there are new features being added every day and multiple choices of how to display content. For example, you can add Newsletters, Event Calendars, Forums, Video, Flash, Audio and Community frameworks - all for no software cost.

What's the catch? Well, although the software is free, it has still to be installed on a suitable server and the basic framework of functionality has to be setup. There's probably too much choice and it's often not easy to choose what suits your requirements best.

Most non-technical companies do not have the skills required to do this. That's where we come in. We will sit down with you, discuss your requirements, identify and demonstrate various alternatives and then let you choose. We'll then install the software on an appropriate server (which may be your own existing hardware) and train you on how to create and maintain your website.

We'll work within your budget from simple websites where all that's required is a simple presence to large websites with interfaces to customised databases. As Joomla! is open source, the software is available to every software developer, including Glengordon Software, with the result that, if you need something which is not available off-the-shelf, we can develop specific software to meet your needs - but you still retain the remainder of the Joomla! product's functionality.
